I was introduced to this product at the running expo for the Seattle Marathon and although i was a little leary of it at first i swear by it now.  To avoid sounding stupid in trying to explain their product I am going to direct you to their site.

Phiten products are worn by elite athletes all over the world. For the past several years the number of world class athletes seen with Phiten gear has steadily increased. We are proud to introduce new products in our lineup to continue the Phiten philosophy of health, energy, and well-being. Anyone can benefit from wearing our products to help aid in counteracting the stress and fatigue of everyday life.

Each of our Pro-Staff athletes has seen the benefits of our technology and wear our products every time they go to work. Phiten products work with your body’s energy system, helping to regulate and balance the flow of energy throughout your body. Proper energy balance helps to alleviate discomfort, speed recovery, and counteract fatigue. Athletes find that they tire less easily and recover faster from intense physical activity. Further benefits of Phiten’s exclusive technology are more relaxed muscles leading to less stress and a greater range of motion that can be of great benefit to an athlete or anyone in any walk of life. At Phiten we are proud of our products and proud to increase the health and well being of the people that believe in our products.

I have been using this product daily since and wont ever go back.  I occasionally use their patches when i have sore muscles, but what i find has been most effective is the necklace, wristband and compression sleeves for the calves.

Add a few more to that list

As I go through the events that I would like to tackle over the next year I realize that the summer months are going to be a bit busy and that I need to get my chores and training done now.  Diabetes for the longest time was an excuse that I used to basically stop living.  I listened to bad advice and used that as an excuse.  I find myself driven to not only achieve what I was told could not be done but to encourage other to go out and achieve their goals.  By the way if anyone is reading this  and has advice for a diabetic that trains three times a day and needs to gain weight please pass on the advice.

The Itch

28 12 2009

My last race was Dec 19th,  I ran the half marathon in the morning and pulled a 1:46 which equated to 17th overall finisher and first place in division.  I then raced a sprint duathlon in the afternoon, didnt do so hot on this one but heck it was fun.  Its been eight days and im itching for my next race.

I identified a race in Mt. Vernon that I would like to do on the 16th of January.

Nutrition and supplements

21 12 2009

I have tried everything under the sun from direct herbal supplements to advanced nutritional supplements often found through stores such as GNC.  The products that I have found that work the best for me are found through hammer nutrition.  Often i find a lot of supplements that are harder on the stomach and make you feel a bit bloated and bulky and these work like a dream.  They work exactly how the claim to work.  They have only helped me minimize the amount of insulin I need.  I find that the energy gels done elevate my blood sugars making it really beneficial for me to get the enhanced energy that I need to compete. A year ago I was taking approximately 30 units of insulin a day in my pump.  I have brought my daily average down to 4 units a day.  A lot of this is due to the intense training i do, but i wouldn’t be successful in my training if i didn’t have some help from the supplements.

Completed 6 Half Marathons within Three Months

21 12 2009

Yesterday I finished my 6th Half Marathon within 3 months.  In honor of that I then spent an hour that afternoon competing in a duathalon.  One thing that I have found since being diagnosed in 2004 with Type one diabetes is that at first I used this disease as an excuse to not be able to achieve certain goals.  I have allowed myself to fall into depression not being able to do the things i was able to do prior to being labeled a diabetic.  I have since learned that diabetes can be used as a spring board to help me achieve my maximum potential.  I have made it a personal goal to not only push my body to achieve my own personal goals, but to find ways to help others make their goals.
